Elderberry
Sambucus nigra L.

The plant is a tree with spreading branches and a white porous core. The leaves are unpaired with 2-3 pairs of leaflets, 20 cm long. The individual leaflets are ovate or oblong, pointed, apical complex thyroid-like inflorescences. They have a 5-toothed calyx, a yellowish-white corolla, which is composed of 5 fused at the base, widely obtuse corolla leaves. Stamens 5, with large yellow anthers.
The plant is found everywhere in humid places, in bushes, forests and settlements. In the mountains it is located at an altitude of up to 1500 m.
The flowers and fruits of the elderberry are used.
The flowers have anti-inflammatory, diaphoretic, secretory and expectorant effects.

Application: as an aid in inflammation of the respiratory tract (bronchitis, pneumonia), etc.
Method of preparation: Add 2 teaspoons of the herb in 250 ml of hot water and soak for 30 minutes. Strain and drink in 3 equal portions the day before meals.
