Description

This is natural dried loose herbal tea from Bulgaria.
Meadowsweet
Filipendula ulmaria Maxim.

The herb grows near the springs and streams, along the swampy meadows and marshes in all Bulgarian mountains.

Perennial herbaceous plant, up to 1.5 m high, with uncovered or branched only in the upper part. Wall stalk and creeping rhizome. Its leaves are perry.

From the herb is used the above-ground part and rhizome with the roots. Above ground is picked at the beginning of flowering – June – July. Dry in the shade or in the drier at t to 40 ° C. The dried leaf has green leaves and a stem, with pale yellow inflorescences, odorless and slightly bitter in taste.

The stems and rootstocks contain the glycosides monotropytozide, lynine and galurtine, which on hydrolysis emit methyl salicylate, essential oil, tannins. Esters of talcic acid, phosphorus, vitamin C, provitamin A, iron, sulfur and the like.

Meadowsweet – Dried root

Application: as an aid in rheumatism, ascites and other edema, pleurisy, sand in the kidneys, gout, etc. Externally applied to skin rashes.

Method of preparation: 1 tablespoon of the herb is boiled for 5 minutes in 300 ml of water. After cooling, strain and drink 100 g 3 times a day after meals.
