Description

This is natural dried loose herbal tea from Bulgaria.

An annual to biennial herbaceous plant. Stem unbranched or slightly branched, up to 150 cm high. The leaves are arranged sequentially, with white reticulate veins, with large, cut triangular lobes ending in yellowish spines up to 8 mm long. The basal leaves are 25 to 50 cm long, 12-25 cm wide, arranged on long stalks.

The flower baskets are large, 2.5-4 cm in diameter and are located singly on the tops of the stem and its branches. The wrapping leaves of the basket are arranged in several rows, with small thorns at the edges and a larger thorn at the top. All colors in the basket are tubular, purple, rarely white. Fruits back oval, flattened, 6-8 mm long, on top with a kite. It blooms from May to August.

For medical purposes, fruits (seeds) are used, whose main active substances are flavonoids (quartcetin, catechin) and flavolignans (silibin, silicristin, silidianin).

Application: as an aid in liver and bile disorders, bile sediments, poisoning, etc.

Method of preparation: Put 1 teaspoon of the herb in 500 ml of hot water and leave for 20 minutes. Strain and drink in 3 equal parts during the day before meals.
